Our History

LitLab was founded by Mialisa T. Bonta as an affiliate of Bring Me A Book. LitLab is a 501(c)3 organization.

Incubated with Changing Needs and a Developing Sector in Mind

LitLab launched from victory in 2014. Triumphing over nearly 500 organizations to win the highly competitive Google Bay Area Impact Challenge, we were birthed from the notion that innovative educational tools for 21st century early learners democratize education. Inspired by our initial success, we acquired and integrated a book rotation program of more than 2,000 classrooms throughout the Bay Area. These early experiences became the fodder for our revolutionary program offerings, creating game changing mobile, scalable solutions accessible to schools, parents, and families nationwide. LitLab solutions, based on decades of experience partnering with school communities in support of low-income and emergent bilingual families, are predominantly designed to activate immigrants and families of color. Through our tools, we have transformed the lives of over 5,000 San Francisco Bay Area children and families. Our newest program offering, kidappolis, seeks to reach 1 million users nationwide by 2021, with a goal of reshaping our world for the better, one child at a time.
