On-line Literary Journal for Regional Peace

This on-line literary journal has been launched by Yerevan and Baku Press Clubs under a joint project, supported by Catholic Relief Services. Its idea is to assist the dialogue of the Armenian and Azerbaijani societies through translation, publication and online discussion of the works of modern Armenian and Azerbaijani writers. This Literary Laboratory-Writers vs Conflicts will accommodate literary pieces in the hope that these works will advance mutual understanding and reconciliation of the long-standing conflict over Mountainous Kharabakh. While during this, pilot project, the focus of the journal will be at works of Armenian and Azerbaijani writers, the scope of the countries involved may possibly be further expanded.

In a situation when mutual hostility continues to be fueled in both societies due to the nearly total lack of cultural communication or discourse between Armenian and Azerbaijani societies we seek to foster dialogue between the societies through literature.

By this initiative we hope to give you something to read, to reflect on and discuss among yourselves and with people from your neighbor countries - possibly making new discoveries about each other.

The Literary Laboratory-Writers against Conflicts project is to serve the negotiation of the hostility among the conflicting nations.
This does not mean that the works presented on the website reflect the military and political confrontations, born by the hostility. Furthermore, there are no thematic or ideological limitations on the site. ”Azerbaijanis (Armenians) have a good contemporary literature” - this reaction from the readers is the main aim of the website as it may form mutual respect of the conflicting nations as the necessary base for conflict resolution, Besides, the reader will find a lot in common in the behavior and reasoning of Armenians and Azerbaijanis - the characters of the works presented, which also contributed to overcoming false stereotypes and alienation.
While choosing the authors, the literary coordinators of the website tried to reflect both the mainstream and the new tendencies.
